Britt Bravo

Britt Bravo, M.A. grew up in the small town of Mystic, CT and moved to the Bay Area after finishing her B.A. in Sociology at Vassar College. For seven years, Britt taught creative career workshops based on Carol Lloyd's book, Creating a Life Worth Living, at venues such as the San Francisco State University’s College of Extended Learning, the New School in New York City, and NiaSpace in Austin, Texas. She has coached hundreds of individuals on how to live their creative dreams.

In addition to her counseling work, for the past 16 years Britt has worked for socially responsible businesses and nonprofits such as Odwalla, where she ran their juice donation program; the San Francisco Recycling Program, where she organized a 100-person volunteer team to launch their "Shop Smart" campaign; and Streetside Stories, an arts education nonprofit, where she worked for six years teaching storytelling and writing to SFUSD middle school students and then became the Program Director and Manager of Volunteers. Britt was also the primary researcher for the Mother Jones/Frontline documentary, "Easy Money", and the Associate Producer of the Bay Area documentary, Tell It Like It Is.

Britt writes for three blogs: her personal blog, Have Fun • Do Good, the NetSquared blog, where she is the Community Builder, and for BlogHer, where she is a BlogHer Nonprofit and NGO Contributing Editor. She also produces her own Big Vision Podcast and NetSquared's "This Week in NetSquared News" podcast. She was a mentor to young women bloggers as part of the Young Caucasus Women Project and the Blogs for African Women project. In Spring 2005, she spoke at, "Blogging for Business: An Insider's Look at How to Use Blogs at Your Company, Business or Nonprofit" produced by the Alliance of Technology and Women and she was recently interviewed for articles about women and blogging for the Contra Costa Times and Bay Area Business Woman.

Her most popular blog posts are:

although she is partial to Six Steps to Everyday Activism which was recently published on the Huffington Post.

In an effort to be part of the positive change she wants to see, Britt uses her counseling, organizing, blogging, podcasting, community outreach and communications skills to work with individuals and organizations to realize their "Big Vision" for a better world.
